Music stars are no strangers to copyright infringement lawsuits. The latest star to be dragged into a copyright suit is Nicki Minaj and her producer RedOne. Little known musician Clive Tanaka claims that Nicki and her producer’s four times platinum single “Starships” infringes on the copyright of Tanaka’s track, “Neu Chicago”. One listen to the “Neu Chicago” and there’s no doubt that the two tracks are eerily similar.
Tanaka and the song’s three other writers (Carl Falk, Wayne Hector, and Rami Yacoub) are looking for an undisclosed compensation amount.
